This is a picture of a controlled burn. The whole view is interesting to watch (if you enjoy that sort of thing) but the after dark scenes, well, they can be down right breathtaking. When an entire mountain glows orange and red, well, let's just say it is truly worth watching.

There is something mesmerizing about fire...three of my nieces and nephews have been or are currently members of fire fighting teams for the U.S. Forest Service. They put their lives on the line each time the call goes out.
